September Minutes

9/13/21

Attendants:  Ed Ross, Julianne Wojcik, Jessica Fisher (Joey and April Fisher), Mindy Sylte, Joanna Doctor Harris, Teri Klein, Jason Denen, Samantha Denen

Introductions were made, names and email addresses (and phone numbers) were collected. Some dues were paid.  Julianne and Jessica to handle payment on the website. 

Jessica presented the 2021-2022 budget.  We made a couple corrections/alterations.  Julianne made a motion to accept the budget and Mindy did second.  The paid PTA members voted and it was approved. 

We discussed the contents of the storage unit and the desire to eliminate it.  It was determined that the PTA would get together at some point in the next week or so to go through it and donate/toss whatever we could so we could cancel it by October.  Julianne to send out email to coordinate. 

Cookie Dough fundraiser will be distributed on Wednesday, 9/15 and run through the 30th.  PTA members will be needed for distribution/pick up 10/28.  We will need 3 volunteers at 1:30 and then another round from 3:30-6. Mindy suggested having 2-3, based on her experience doing this.  Julianne will include this in her email out to the group as well. 

The PTA liked the idea of the raffle at Culvers.  thought it would be motivating for the kids to come back to use their gift card at the next Culver’s Night. Julianne will need to also coordinate who will be doing the Culver’s Nights in the email that is sent out later this week.  So far, 9/20 will have Ed and Julianne, but no other nights have been assigned. Julianne to put the first Facebook blast out on Thursday, 9/16 as an FYI and then another blast out on Monday as a reminder. 

We confirmed that Jennifer is still doing Spiritwear, but was just unable to attend the meeting.  She has some new items to add to the Google Doc and once that has been completed, Julianne will blast that on FB about once a month, on the off PTA weeks. We discussed getting more flashlights, as that was an issue a couple years back when we ran out. 

Julianne and Jason, along with Samantha, had discussed putting the notes on the Pullman website.  

After the meeting had been concluded, Joanna had approached Julianne and we had discussed her interest in taking over the Vice President position.  We will vote on this at the October 4th meeting. 

Mindy had also mentioned to Julianne that Sarah Krueger may be interested in the Secretary position.  Sarah had previously held the VP position in the past.  Julianne to reach out to Sarah and confirm if she would be interested and if so, we will also vote on this at the October 4th meeting.

10/4 Minutes

9/13 Minutes were approved.

Joanna Harris was not present, so we will vote her in as Vice President at the next meeting she attends. 

There was discussion about the Storage Unit.  We have until 10/11 to empty out and clean up the storage unit. Plans will be made next week. 

We sold $21K worth of Cookie Dough @50% profit! Great job, kids (and parents)!  Jessica to deposit into the bank this week.

November Minutes

November 8, 2021

10/4 Minutes were approved.

Julianne made a motion to appoint Joanna Harris as VP.  Jennifer second and the motion was approved.  

Cookie dough has been rescheduled for 11/16.  A note will be sent out to parents.

Culver’s Night 11/15:  Jessica Fisher and Jennifer Johanson.  We  have made an average of about $300/night for the Culver’s Nights.  Checks will be deposited this week.

Julianne is going to put one more post on Facebook for Spirit Wear.  

Ed shared that question 1 on the ballot passed but question 2 did not.

There will be no meeting in December, the next meeting will be on Jan 3.

 EDIT - No school was issued on Jan 3rd, so we moved the meeting to the 10th.

January 10, 2022

11/8 Minutes were approved.

All Cookie Dough has been picked up.  All prizes have been distributed.  We think the kiddos kept them at school or lost them.  We had 1 or 2 parents reach out, but that’s it.

At this point, we do not think a Spring Fundraiser is needed.

We had a discussion regarding doing a “movie in the park” type of get together in the Spring.

Ed is going to check the calendar for a Thursday in May that might work.

Joanna is going to reach out to the Lions regarding food and drink.

Julianne is going to do a little digging with regards to food trucks to see cost/availability.

Jessica is going to look into South Suburban Games.

●        Food:  Confirmed Northwoods Food Truck.  Julianne will reach out to Mik Mart for a desert/treat option.  Joanna will confirm Legion hot dogs. Need to look into another food truck option.

●        Games:  Inflatables run about $100 ea.  thinking we can get games for under $500.  PTA members can also bring their yard games.

2/7 Minutes were approved.

Movie in the park:

• Name  has been changed to “Party in the Park!”.  

• Date:  5/26 from 5-8 PM

• Food:  Confirmed Northwoods Food Truck.  Julianne will reach out to Mik Mart for a desert/treat option.  Joanna confirmed the Lions will provide hot dogs for free.  There was concern that Northwoods would not come if the Lions were there with free hot dogs, Julianne has confirmed that is not a problem and he will be there.  

• Plan for 200-300 people

• With Field Day the next day, we can utilize the activities that Ed typically uses that day.  (Corn Hole, Obstacle Course Blow Up - already in the budget). 

Dance in the Spring: 

• Ed is going to look at the calendar to see if we can do the 5th grade dance the first week in May

• PTA ran Food (Pizza)

• Need to look into DJ’s. 

Kindergarten Open House is on 4/25. Julianne will plan on being there from 5-6 to assist with cookies, others offered to assist as well.

4/4 Minutes

2/28 Minutes were approved.

Culver’s has us down for Sunday, 3/20.  We will still get the proceeds from 5-7.  Joanna will handle 5/16.

Vicky Snyder from Basic Needs received a $10,000 grant and wants to donate school supplies to Pullman.  Ed will meet with her at a separate time to discuss.

We will be combining Family Fun Night with the Global Arts Festival.  This will split up the time so people can be in and out of the school.

●        Date:  5/26 / time changed to 4:30-7 (food will be available at 5-7).

●        Northwoods Food Truck / Mik Mart / Lions will be there with hot dogs.

●        Planning for 200-300 people

●        Ed has Corn Hole available for us to use

●        Julianne will bring sidewalk chalk and Jenga

●        No Inflatable obstacle course, this would cost too much and when we combine with the Global Arts Festival, we shouldn’t need it.

●        Save the Dates/Fliers - Ed has offered to do these.  We will help if needed!

●        Jason suggested helium balloons as well (Green and Black)

5th Grade Dance will be on 5/6/22 from 5-7

○        30-40 pizzas.  Start with 30, will call to get more if/when we run out

○        Will charge $2/slice or $3 for a slice and water

○        Need to buy water bottles, napkins, plates

●        DJ - Jen found DJ for $350 - we will have the check for him that night.

Teacher Appreciation Week is the week of May 2-6

●        $800 in the budget

●        Previously, the PTA had done something every day. Instead, we would like to do:

○        Monday:  We “donut” know how you do it! ~$70

○        Gift:  Lunch Box/cooler?  <$10/person ($650).  We will write out cards as well.

○        Julianne will post on FB asking parents to write “Thank you’s” to their teachers.  The teachers want to be thanked by the parents, as well as the PTA.  We will provide cards if parents want them.

Kindergarten Open House is on 4/25. Julianne will plan on being there from 5-6 to assist with cookies, others offered to assist as well.

We should have a meeting in August to get ready for the school year.

Introductions!

2023 Budget will be voted on next month. 

Cookie Dough Fundraiser will kick off this week, but there are no prizes being provided.  PTA discussed possible prizes that we could provide for top sellers.  Decided that the top seller will receive a $50 gift card to Target.  We will also be hosting pizza parties for the top K-2 classroom and the top 3-5 classroom with the most participation (# of kids) with a tie breaker being top dollars.  Will provide around MEA.

Jessica confirmed PTA will provide $200 of Culver’s Ice-Cream for Curriculum Night on 4/22.  Julianne will assist with distribution.

Culver’s Dates confirmed:  10/10, 12/12, 2/13, 4/10

There will be a Turkey Dinner in November, and a 5th grade dance in the spring.  Looking into combining the Global Arts Festival with a “carnival” like event.  Need to put something together to reach out to the parents to create a Planning Committee.

Julianne suggested we look into a Square, since Venmo and the K12 app isn't going to work.  Joanna is researching.

10/3/22 Minutes

Collected dues.  9/12 Minutes approved.

Curriculum Night:  Positive feedback regarding Culver’s.  We had about 150 kids come!

Jessica encountered some issues with our Quickbooks account.  She will re-vamp the budget format so we don’t have to pay the outrageous amount they asked for to renew.  Budget will be voted on next meeting. 

Cookie Dough Fundraiser was completed.  Less money than last year, so we will have to discuss at a later date if a Spring Fundraiser is needed.  Some thoughts around this is our account is pretty high,, so maybe we don’t need to this year. 

Cookie dough pick up is November 3rd from 3:30-6 in the gym.  Julianne and Jess to distribute.

Spring Carnival:  Julianne to work on a flier to promote Planning Committee by next meeting.

It was decided that we will not meet in December.  We will move the Jan meeting date back a week to Jan 9th and do it virtually. 

We looked over the new reimbursement request form that Jessica had created for the teachers to use. There has been some confusion about their funds and the reimbursement process, so hopefully this will help. 

Cookie dough:  there was 1 missed order that was taken care of.  Jessica to write a check. Tracy and Penny assisted with cookie dough prep.  Juliane Wojcik, Joanna Harris and Erin Terry assisted with pick up.

Julianne to put in a “last call” for Spirit Wear on FB.

A “Fun Run” was discussed as a possible Spring Fundraiser.  It will be added to the January agenda.

2/6/23 Minutes

Ed mentioned since minimal attendees were there, and the next meeting is scheduled for Spring Break week, that we could move the next meeting up a week for Feb 27.  Julianne agreed and notified Joanna, Jill and Jess of this change.

We think the day of the Carnival will line up with the Global Arts Fest on May 18th.  We will confirm this date and then Julianne will reach out to Northwoods and Mik Mart.  Will Joanna reach out to Lions?

            We brainstormed some ideas for Teacher Appreciation week.  Teachers prefer bagels over donuts, so we will do that next time.  We also all liked the idea of an Amazon gift card as the “big gift” this year. .

5th Grade Dance will be on 5/6/22 from 5-7

○        30-40 pizzas.  Start with 30, will call to get more if/when we run out

○        Will charge $2/slice or $3 for a slice and water

○        Need to buy water bottles, napkins, plates

●        DJ - Jen found DJ for $350 - we will have the check for him that night.

Teacher Appreciation Week is the week of May 2-6

●        $800 in the budget

●        Previously, the PTA had done something every day. Instead, we would like to do:

○        Monday:  We “donut” know how you do it! ~$70

○        Gift:  Lunch Box/cooler?  <$10/person ($650).  We will write out cards as well.

○        Julianne will post on FB asking parents to write “Thank you’s” to their teachers.  The teachers want to be thanked by the parents, as well as the PTA.  We will provide cards if parents want them.
